Why You Should Spend Your August at the Wisconsin State Fair (And Get Paid For It)

There's a two-week window every summer where West Allis turns into the most electric 200 acres in the state. Cream puffs are stacked six high, a 15-story Ferris wheel lights up the sky, and over a million people show up to eat, ride, and wander. It's a lot of fun to visit. Advanced Fun Technology is hiring for two of the Fair's most talked-about spots: Flying Solo Bar & Grill and The Ejection Seat. Two very different jobs, same great perk: you get to spend eleven days in August in the middle of one of the biggest, best parties in Wisconsin.

The Short Version

We're looking for people to fill:

• Bartenders at Flying Solo Bar & Grill

• Kitchen positions at Flying Solo Bar & Grill

• Customer service / register staff at Flying Solo Bar & Grill

• Ride Attendants / Operator Assistants on The Ejection Seat Thrill Ride crew

Both jobs run August 6–16, with setup and teardown opportunities on the ride crew side for anyone who wants a few extra shifts before or after the Fair opens.

Working the Bar at Flying Solo

Flying Solo Bar & Grill sits at the epicenter of the fair. You're in it. Live music, a crowd that's already in a good mood because they just came off the Giant Slide or a plate of cheese curds, and drinks like the Blue Ribbon Watermelon Mint Julep that people snap a photo of before they take a sip.

Fair crowds tip well when you keep the line moving and the energy up, and there's something genuinely fun about being the reason someone's night at the Fair goes from good to great.

Launching Fairgoers at The Ejection Seat

Now for something a little more airborne. The Ejection Seat is one of the Fair's signature thrill rides, a sling-shot style launch that sends riders more than 100 feet into the air. As a Ride Attendant or Operator Assistant, you're the one strapping people in, walking them through the safety checks, and watching their faces the second the ride fires. Few summer jobs let you watch someone's whole day get made in about four seconds flat.

The work is hands-on and outdoors, which means real Wisconsin August weather, real crowds, and a job where standing around isn't really an option. You'll work closely with a lead operator, follow safety procedure without exception, and help keep the ride area running clean and professional.
